Star Rating

The Red Onion Café is a local business that was established in 1985 by Danny and Suzette Mauney. Our restaurant is located right across the street from Appalachian State and we serve lunch and dinner seven days a week. We have been a part of the community for almost thirty years and believe that there’s no place quite like Boone!
The menu is designed to please the whole family and we use only the freshest ingredients to prepare our dishes. The varied menu offers salads, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, pasta, and steaks. Our famous artichoke dip and Horace cookie are two specials that keep our customers coming back!

Best Practice Highlights

We not only serve great food in a friendly atmosphere, we also continue to do our part in the community. We have a long history of repaying the community for their support of our restaurant. Our latest endeavor is becoming a green business by the Watauga Green Business Plan. This includes things such as community involvement, environmentally and socially responsible purchasing, water conservation, and protection and promotion of natural & cultural resources. This is just another way that we are doing our part to make our community a better place to live, work, and visit! We hope to see you back soon!
